Christina Abt has published two books, in addition to contributing to a host of others, including the best selling “Chicken Soup” books. On any given day, Christina Abt is living the life of a mother,a nana, a media consultant, a community volunteer, a political activist, a free lance writer and/or a farm girl. Yet no matter the time or place, the one constant role in Christina’s life is that of a storyteller.
Christina’s first book, “Chicken Wing Wisdom” was published in 2008 by Western New York Wares. It is a collection of stories about Western New York women, their sense of wisdom and the ways in which they share that wisdom with food. CWW became a regional best-seller and is now in its second printing.
Christina’s most recent book is historical fiction, inspired by the house that she lives in, a 150 year old farm house named Crown Hill in Eden, NY. Crown Hill is the story of a house and the lives of those who were shaped and connected by their experiences within. They include a suspected murderer, an abused wife, an accomplished lawyer-turned-spiritualist, an internationally renowned author and a newly divorced woman beginning again— their tales all told by the one who knows them best—Crown Hill.
Christina often speaks about her works at book clubs and other groups. Visit her profile page for more about Christina and how to contact her for availability and fees.
Pete Herr has been a high school teacher for over 20 years. During that time he has won numerous awards, including NHS Teacher of the Year twice and Cheektowaga, NY Sam’s Club Teacher of the Year, awards he holds very dear because they all came from his students.
After two decades in a classroom, Pete realized that there was so much focus on reforms that there was no time for teaching the life skills that are so essential to success in college, in the work place, and in life in general. “10 Things We Should Teach You In High School and Usually Don’t” addresses the most important of these skills, giving students a leg up on what they may have missed, and giving parents a list that they can begin teaching their kids at a young age to help them succeed.
Pete likes to speak to parent groups or book clubs about the importance of getting these lessons to kids of all ages, and how to begin to bring them to kids at a young age. Pete will speak for free to these groups that purchase copies of his book.
